Announcements for 11/28/18

Christmas Party – December 19th, 2018, 6-8PM

Our Abide Christmas Celebration will take the place of our regularly scheduled Wednesday Night services on December 19th, from 6-8PM. We will be enjoying each other’s company while partaking in delicious food, festive music, and themed games.

PARENTS – Pastor George asks that parents contribute a dish that they can send with their students that night. A sign up will be made available which will include some dish suggestions. We will want to lock the menu down sooner than later so appropriate arrangements/accommodations can be made for the food.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS – Our ministry has been particularly blessed this year by the efforts of several adult volunteers who have donated time, effort, talent, and money for the sake of our mission. We would like to show our gratitude by inviting them to celebrate with us. Invitations to these particular adult volunteers will be going out in the next few days. Make sure as you mingle with our volunteers to let them know how appreciative you are of their services.

Christmas Tree/ Room Decorating

This Wednesday (Nov.28) we will be decorating our Christmas Tree for the Youth Building. Pastor George has secured the tree and ornaments. Feel free to bring in your own Christmas decorations (if you choose) to help dress up the room. Also, if you have ONE special ornament you would like to put on our tree, feel free to do bring that as well!

DNow Update

DNow will be held February 15-17, 2019. This year we will be joining many other churches in participating in the “Metro Wide DNow,” an event hosted at First Baptist New Orleans.

DNow is a weekend retreat of focused discipleship and bible study for students with a missions emphasis. Students will be divided into groups and each group will be paired with a “host home,” a family from within our church. Students will spend the night at their host homes on Friday and Saturday, as well as having bible study and fellowship time there as well . There will be a total of three worship services at FBNO throughout the weekend: one Friday night service, one Saturday morning service, and one Saturday evening service. On Saturday, in between services, we will likely be completing a missions project of some sort as well (details are still being worked out).

Students should be dropped off at church on Friday evening (Feb 15) and will be brought to church on Sunday (Feb 17) for pickup by their parents after church.

Cost is $15 per student, which includes a T-shirt. For students who sign up and pay before December 12th, one will be randomly selected to receive FREE ADMISSION to the event. Please don’t hesitate to ask Pastor George if you are your parents have any questions about the event.

Band Update

We are excited to announce that our Abide Praise Band is in the process of reorganizing and preparing to bless our Wednesday Night services with its talents. This Wednesday (11/28) the band will be back in action with two songs during our worship time.

BAND MEMBERS – Those of you who have been contacted by Pastor George, please do not forget we are having another practice this Wednesday at 5pm in the Youth Building. We will also discuss scheduling and song selection for the next worship time as well as some ideas Pastor George has for Youth Led Sunday (December 30) and a possible cameo appearance at the Abide Christmas Celebration.
